A Telehealth Futures Foundation Initiative
Zambia's first dedicated toll-free crisis line for suicide prevention and mental health support.
Every year, thousands of Zambians face mental health crises with nowhere to turn. Stigma keeps people silent. Distance keeps people isolated. Cost keeps people from professional help.
Hopeline Zambia exists to change that. A single toll-free number — 933 — connects anyone in crisis with a trained counsellor, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from any mobile network.
No cost. No judgement. Just someone who will listen.
Available now
These toll-free numbers are available today. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please call immediately.
If you are in crisis
If you are having thoughts of suicide or self-harm, please reach out. Call 933 now — it is free, confidential, and available 24/7.

What we offer
Immediate, confidential support from trained counsellors for anyone experiencing suicidal thoughts or emotional distress.
Connection to local mental health professionals, community support groups, and follow-up care.
Awareness campaigns in schools, churches, and high-risk communities to break the stigma around mental health.
Capacity building for volunteer and professional counsellors to handle crisis calls effectively.
Phase 1
Establish the toll-free number, recruit and train initial counsellor cohort, build the secure call platform.
Phase 2
Extend operating hours to 24/7, add WhatsApp and SMS channels, partner with health facilities for referrals.
Phase 3
Secure long-term funding, integrate with national health systems, publish impact data and research.
Sustainability
Hopeline Zambia is designed to outlast any single funding cycle. Through partnerships with government health bodies, international mental health organisations, and community fundraising, we are building a crisis line that Zambia can rely on for decades to come.
